The economy looked bleak back in 2008. The housing market was grim. And the market for soaring staircases and intricate metal railings became pretty slim.

It was a pivotal time for the business now known as The Heirloom Companies – as well as the family that owns and operates it: Allyn and Sheree Moseley and their three sons, Ben, James and Travis.

“We had some tough decisions to make,” says Ben, the oldest brother and chief operating officer.
