Nothing feels better than to feel appreciated. Belonging is a make-or-break element when it comes to whether you like what you do, or love what you do.
Hand in hand with that sense of knowing that you, as a person and the skills you bring to the team, are valued, is – in return – a sense of gratefulness. Those who express gratefulness regularly are typically those who recognize that, despite life’s ups and downs, the good outweighs the bad and the blessings are abundant, even if we sometimes have to exercise more diligence in seeing them.
Thanksgiving is naturally a time at flourish to give thanks, express our gratitude, and count our blessings. Our logo and brand is built upon the harvest, and so it is only fitting that this time of year mean so much to us.
Each year, we hold the flourish Family Thanksgiving Potluck Luncheon, and this year was no exception. We came, we ate, and we could barely walk afterward!
But, this year, we began a new tradition that I’m super excited about, that flows straight out of my and David’s own gratefulness: we surprised the team by recognizing some of them with some special awards.
We created three awards:
- Rookie of the Year
- The Harvest Award
- The Spirit of flourish Award
Our inaugural Rookie of the Year is Taegen Jordan. Taegen joined us earlier this year as an Intern Associate, and we quickly recognized that she was a keeper. Lucky for us, she accepted a full-time position this fall and has literally blended in so seamlessly to the Flourish team that I can’t really imagine life without her (and wouldn’t want to!).
The Harvest Award goes to the team member who has helped expand the flourish family of clients the most in the past year. We recognize Emily Scurry for this awesome and important honor. Through Emily’s deep relationships, she brought on three new events into our events division this past year, and we couldn’t be more excited about her “go get ’em” attitude.
The Spirit of flourish Award mirrors the team member who embodies our mission, vision and core values. This person walks the talk, every day, both in the office, with our clients, and in life, period. It doesn’t surprise me that this was a tough decision for us, so we awarded two Spirit of flourish awards! One to Kristan Gillespie and the other to Christine Morgan. Both of these ladies are simply the best. I cherish them and applaud them.

To wrap, I’m grateful – for our team, for our clients, for the great region we do business within, and for the incredible amount of opportunities we have to serve. I strive for flourish to be a place of gratefulness, and for that to show through in our work, in our relationships, and in the people we are here, out there, and everywhere.
